The Coming
Age of Miracles
by Bill Britton
We
are living in the last days. We are, In this
generation, at the closing of an age. The Bible tells us (2 Corinthians 4:4)
that Satan is the god of this age. And Hebrews 2:5-8 (Phillips Translation)
says That God has allowed this present age to be in subjection to fallen
angels, But that the government of the coming age will be by the sons of God,
the Body of Jesus Christ. The time has now come for this age of darkness,
during which Satan the prince of darkness has ruled In
the heavenlies, to come to a close.
So
let me tell you about the next age, the coming age of miracles, which is even
at the door. The apostle Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3 about the age that came to
an end at the time of the Flood in Noah's day. And in verse 8 he makes a very
enlightening statement: "One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and
a thousand years as one day". (2 Peter 3:8). So this next age, often
called the thousand year millennium, is actually one day, "the Day of the
Lord."
"AND
GOD RESTED"
'Thus
the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the
seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh
day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and
sanctified it because that in it he had rested from all his work which God
created and made. (Genesis 2:1-3)."
Carefully
notice these facts: 1. God worked for 6 days bringing His creation into perfect
order. He was not discouraged with the imperfect, incomplete creation after the
4th or 5th day. He just kept working until it was finished. 2. All of God's
work was finished after six days, when He had a man prepared to take over the
government of creation (Genesis 1:26, 28). 3. On the seventh day God rested,
while man went to work taking care of God's creation.
We
have now come to the end of six of God's 1,000 year days. He has been working
on His plan, and is now putting the finishing touches on His many-membered man,
the Church. This Church, the Body of Christ, the Overcomer, sons of God, the
man-child... make up God's man, the one who shall rule and reign on the earth
with Christ for the next thousand years (Rev 5-10). With the rising of this
company of saints into the heavens (I Thess 4:17), a
warfare begins such as the world has never seen. Satan is cast out of the
heavens (Rev 12:9), a new government takes office, a new age is introduced, and
the Day of the Lord begins.
GOD'S
SABBATH DAY
In
Hebrews 4:1 we read that there is "a promise being left us entering into
His rest." Verse 4 says "For he spake in a
certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day
from all his works.” Then it goes on to say that we too can enter His rest. It says that Israel
did not enter into rest, the promised land, because of unbelief. Then the Bible
plainly states that Joshua did not bring them into rest when he took Israel
across Jordan into Canaan, showing us that the real rest of God is still ahead
of us. Verse 9 states: "There remaineth
therefore a rest to the people of God.” And beloved, it still remains, ready
for us to enter. The chapter concludes by speaking our high priest, our needs,
and of our coming to the throne of grace to find mercy and grace in time of
need. So obviously, we have still not entered into the rest that he speaks of
here. God's sabbath day is not a day of the week. The Jewish sabbath was only a shadow of the
real, prefiguring the true sabbath, which is the fulness of Christ. When we come into the fulness of Christ, we will then have entered God's day of
rest. No wonder the Bible says: "Let no man therefore judge you in meat,
or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days; which are a shadow of things to come; but the
body is of Christ (Colossians 2:16-17)."
Israel
thought they had provided God a place of rest, when they built the temple. But
Isaiah made it very plain that the natural temple made with stones was not
God's resting place: "Thus saith the Lord. The
heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; where is the house that ye
build unto me? And where is the place of
my rest (Isaiah 66:1)?” This scripture is quoted by Stephen in Acts 7:49 where
Stephen told the Sanhedrin that God does not dwell in temples made with hands.
He is telling them that Christ, the One they crucified, is the real resting
place of God, the house that God lives in. Coming into the fulness
of Christ is coming into God's sabbath.
And the day of the
Lord. God's sabbath
day, is the 1,000 year day when the body of Christ is caught up fully into Him,
to rule and reign with Him for 1,000 years
WHAT
IS THE NEXT AGE LIKE?
There
is a beautiful clue given us in Hebrews 6:5 about what will take place in the
next age. "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and
have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come..
(Hebrews 6:4-5 New American Standard Bible).”
The
Amplified Bible says: "the mighty powers of the Age and world to
come." Wuest translation states: "tasted
the good word of God, also the powers (miracles) of the age that Is about to come.” King James says simply: "tasted the
good word of God, and the powers of the world to come." They all agree on
this - there are Mighty powers reserved for the next age, and we are not there
yet. Miracles in the next age? Why? If the devil is
bound, all sin destroyed, the kingdom of God is set up on earth, we are ruling
and reigning, and .his world is a heaven on earth ....
then what need would there be for miracles?
Oh
yes, beloved, there are going to be some surprises ahead for everyone. In the
first place, Jesus said that after the "strong man" is bound, then we
begin to spoil his "goods." And the strong man, Satan, will be bound
for 1,000 years, during which the sons of God, that glorious company of saints
without a spot or wrinkle, will clean up the terrible mess his government has
left. Glorious miracles and healings will abound, in
fact, they will be the order of the day, the norm for the hour. There will be
absolute dominion by the sons of God over all the natural and created forces,
as well as over all the powers of darkness. And finally, even death is
destroyed and put under our feet. Jesus demonstrated this so clearly in His
life here on earth. And He left us this glorious testimony.
HE
HEALED ON THE SABBATH
What
significance is there in the fact that Jesus spent so much time healing people
on the sabbath? The Scribes
and Pharisees thought He had plenty of time on the other 6 days to do His work.
What is Jesus saying to us in the way that He seemed to always be breaking
their rules? Why did He work on the sabbath?
Remember
that God rested on the sabbath,
while the man He created ruled and did the necessary work to care for the
creation God had put under his dominion. "The Sabbath is made for
man." And remember that this sabbath is a l,000 year day, and that we are His many-membered man. God is
telling us, through the life and works of Jesus, that this next 1,000 years
will be very busy, and very fruitful. Glory to God! Miracle working powers of
the age to come! Do we have miracles in this present age? Friends,
what we have now is only the first-fruits of that which belongs to
another age. We have only "tasted" of those powers. Jesus actually
walked into the day of the Lord, and demonstrated the powers of that age. What
we have had since then is only a part realm, a foretaste, a
first-fruits of that which is reserved for the day when Satan is cast
out of heaven and the sons of God begin to reign.
Now
thank God for the healings and miracles of today. They are real and they are
precious. They are also sadly lacking in many places. And even those who see sick bodies healed,
demons cast out, dead raised, and other miracles, only see results in a small
percentage of the needs that come to them. Thank God for the percentage, the
“taste” but there is a perfect order coming ... an age of miracles.
A
CRIPPLE ON THE SABBATH
Jesus
went to Jerusalem, and there by the sheep market was pool called Bethesda, the
place of 5 porches. Chapter 5 of the Gospel of John gives us a beautiful story
of the healing of a cripple. It took place on the sabbath day, the 7th day of the week. So there will be
cripples healed in the "7th day," by those sons who have been caught
up to God's throne. Those who have been unable to walk out the truth of the
Gospel during this age of grace will come into contact with real sonship, and will "take up their beds and walk."
This is part of the program for the next age.
This
man could see fine. He could even see Jesus when He came. But he couldn't walk. Friends, this world is
full of people who can see the truths of the Gospel some even have some deep
revelations, but they can't walk in that which they see. They see the truth of
victory over sin, victory over sickness and death. But they still fall, and
die. But in the “7th day” of the next age, this will be corrected. People will
be made to walk, to be strong. After 38 years as a cripple the man was
immediately strong enough to carry his bed.
Then
he ran into religious difficulty. The Jews said to him: "“It is the sabbath day, it is not lawful for
thee to carry thy bed." In other words, according to their doctrine,
nothing like this is going to happen in the 1,000 year millennium. It is false
doctrine, they say, to preach that there will be miracles in the next age. But
the Son of God just continued to go about, working on the sabbath. Do you think the crippled man ever wondered
why it took so long for this to happen to him? For 38 years he had this
infirmity. Then suddenly, without advance notice, the healing came on the sabbath. Dear ones, this world has had an infirmity for
much longer than 38 years. The sickness has been deep, and painful; and no man
has been able to cure it. The nations are sick today, and there is no answer in
man. But the Son of God shall appear, and the infirmity shall be healed. To God
be the Glory! Thank God for the coming 7th day, God's sabbath, the age of miracles!
BLIND
FROM BIRTH
Turning
to John 9 we read a thrilling story of a man who had been blind from birth. It
was not by accident that Jesus came his way, and on the sabbath day.
Whose
fault is this? The disciples wanted to know if it was his sin or his parents.
But Jesus indicated that the man was this way so that the works of God could be
manifested in him on the sabbath
day. Notice what Romans 8:19-21 says: "For the anxious longing of the
creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation
was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who
subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its
slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God (New
American Standard Bible).”
So
we see a creation that has been subjected to futility. We see a world that has
been born blind, a people who have never seen the light of the Gospel, never
heard the name of Jesus, never felt the power of the Holy Ghost. And we wonder
whose fault it is. But we see that world coming to the 7th day, the age of
miracles. And we see their eyes being opened. Glory to God, what a shock this
was to the religious community! They could not handle the idea that sonship really worked, and that this was really taking
place on the sabbath. They
would rather have seen the man remain blind, than to see their doctrines come
crashing down around their ears. They would rather the needs never be met, than
to have the Son of God get the glory for it. Such is the spirit of religion
today, even as then.
Nevertheless,
the man's eyes were opened, he saw the light of day, and finally he even saw
the Son of God. And beloved, this blinded creation which has so long walked in
darkness, blinded by religion, by intellectualism, by ignorance, by witchcraft,
and by humanism, will have their eyes opened on the sabbath. They will even see sonship,
and will know the Son in the power of His resurrection! Let the religious
leaders try to protect their dogmas and creeds. They shall all crumble in the
light of the reality of Christ. The 7th day, the age of miracles will see the
opening of eyes, and the deliverance of creation from the bondage of death and
decay.
EVEN
INTO THE SYNAGOGUES
"And
He was teaching In one of the synagogues on the
Sabbath (Luke 13:10)." Here we find Jesus getting right into the religious
system on the 7th day. I want you to know that in this "6th day" in
which we now live, the Son of God is not welcome in many of our modern day
“synagogues" of religion. Sonship is not a
subject they want in their churches. But I declare to you that in the 7th day,
the day of the Lord, that the many-membered son will
get into the very heart of the religious system and teach the living Word of
God. It will be a word like they have never heard before. Yes, they will say
"Why have we not heard this before? This is not as the teaching of our scribes, this is a word of authority from the Throne!"
I am firmly convinced that those huge cathedrals and temples which have been
used only as ceremonial mausoleums, shall one day be
filled with hungry people being fed the Word of Life.
In
this synagogue was a woman. This symbolically speaks of church. Yes, in that
system of religion there was a church. And she was bowed
over, bent double. She could not straighten herself. She could not look up,
could not see the heavens. All she could see was the earth. So many churches
are in this condition today. And it was caused by a spirit. The people seem to
have adjusted to it. They have submitted to that spirit. They don't expect
anything else from their religion, except a little earthly help, a social
gospel. No heavenly vision. 18 years of it. That is 6+6+6 = 18. Three 6’s. Yes, It is the spirit of
antichrist that keeps the people from looking up to see the heavenly vision.
The synagogue was no help.
But
Jesus touched her. On the sabbath.
And immediately she was made whole, stood erect, and began glorifying God. Now
she could look up. Friends, we don't have to wait until we all get to heaven to
see the glory of God. Lift up your heads, look up, don't
be bowed over with earthly visions in the synagogues of men's religion. Let the
Son touch you. The realm of Sonship can bring you a
new vision of Him and you can truly glorify God as never before.
Do
the religious systems rejoice at the deliverance of the church? Oh, they are
indignant - "Why didn't you heal this woman during the 6 days?” they ask.
If you can't get healed during the 6th day of the age of grace, then you'll
just have to wait till we all get to heaven! There will not be a perfect church
without spot or wrinkle on this earth in the 7th day,” they say. It upsets
their theology. To them the 7th day to a time of sitting
around looking pious, being religious, wearing their crowns and robes. But not a time to work delivering the church, and creation.
Jesus simply called them "hypocrites". He told them they had more
concern for their animals (beast system) than for the woman (the church). It
was true, and still is.
THE
BOOK IS OPENED ON THE SABBATH
Jesus
went into the synagogue on the sabbath
(Luke 4:16-17) and stood up to read. Verse 17 says: "He opened the
book." It was the scroll of the prophet Isaiah He was reading from, a
scripture about Himself. And He said, "Today is this Scripture
fulfilled."
Let
me speak to those who think that the Bible is an old-fashioned out-dated book that we no longer need. The day of the Lord
is upon us, a day in which this book will be opened anew by the Son of God, a
day in which the Old Testament prophecies will be fulfilled. Yes, the
many-membered company of the sons of God will take the Book out of the hands of
the religious leaders, and stand up with the truth that will bring light and
life to creation. I know that verse 28 says that all those in the synagogue
were filled with wrath and rage when they heard His Word,
I know He was rejected by the system of religion in His day, and that the same
thing will happen to the sons. But His words of life still prevailed. Truth
cannot be destroyed. The Book will come alive again, and the voice of the Son
will be heard. Thus saith the Lord!
It
was here, on the 7th day, they cast Him out of the city, and would have thrown
Him over a cliff, but He passed through their midst and went His way. So shall
be the conflict in the Day of the Lord, religion still trying to cast out the
Son, and the sonship message. But this order shall
survive their wrath, the victory is ours!
From
here, Jesus went to Capernaum, and on the sabbath
day He entered the synagogue and began to teach with authority. Have you
enjoyed the divine revelation God has been giving in these last days? Have you
appreciated the authority by which men of God have spoken? Let me assure you
that in the 7th day there will be a word of authority such as we have never
experienced. There will be teaching by divine revelation on the Kingdom of God
that will stun and amaze everyone. Mark 1:22 says: "And they were amazed
at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as
the scribes (New American Standard Bible).”
THE
REVIVAL OF TRUTH
It
was only after the children of Israel came out of Babylonian captivity (Nehemiah
8), that men began to teach the Book with understanding. All during their time
in captivity, for 70 years, they had the prophecies of Isaiah and Jeremiah, and
the Law of Moses. But they did not understand them. But away from Babylon, they
had the understanding to hear the word of the Lord. And Nehemiah 8:7 says that
men of God caused the people to understand the law of God. Verse 2 says that
this was happening on the first day of the 7th month, the day for the blowing
of the trumpet for the Feast of Tabernacles. It was the time of preparation
before going behind the Veil on the day of Atonement.
I
therefore declare to you, beloved, that one of the greatest features of the
Feast of Tabernacles, the 7th day of God, is a glorious revival of the understanding
of the Bible. Truth shall flow like a river. No longer an
obscure book of many interpretations, but now a fountain of life and truth.
Glory to God! Ezra and Jesus both stood up to read the Word of God. Ezra did it
on the 7th month, Jesus on the 7th day. Both speaking of that glorious age of
Tabernacles!
Even
today God's people are coming out of Babylon, and coming into a deeper
understanding of truth. Those who still dwell behind Babylon's walls, in an
organized, ecclesiastical system of denominational religion, are still blinded to much of what God is revealing for these days. They still
cling to the dogmas and fantasies and fairy tale that were born in the
imaginations of men, and carried on by official decree. If this word sounds
hard, it is because I am thrusting the sword of the Lord right into the heart
of Babylon's strength. It is the power that has divided God's precious people
for hundreds of years. But its power is waning, and soon the walls shall
crumble like dust and the city shall be burnt with fire! That's what God says
about it.
IN
THE CORN FIELDS ON THE SABBATH
Going
to Mark 2:23 we see Jesus and His disciples going through the corn fields on
the sabbath day. "And
his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn (verse 23)." Glory
to God, it is harvest time on the 7th day and they are plucking the corn. How
do I know it was the time of harvest? Well, they weren't pulling up the seeds
and eating them, or chewing on the blades or stalks. The ears of corn were
ripened, and they began to eat. The harvest was ripe.
That
many-membered son will be going into the harvest fields on the 7th day. I know
that traditional theology tells us that there will be no harvest of souls, no
revival in the Church during the 1,000 year day. But I want you to know that on
the 7th day, the harvest will be ripe and the Son will enter the fields. Of
course the Pharisees complained about this reaping on the sabbath. It was not lawful according to their
teaching. According to modern Pharisees, there will be no reaping of the
harvest on the 7th day. But God will do it His way.
Thank
God for that 1,000 year Day of Rest, when we can cease from our own labors,
just rest in Him, speaking the word of authority and seeing a harvest such as
we have never seen before, all at the same time. Yes, the world is going to be
changed. Every continent, every nation, every province and state, every city
and village, every hamlet and farmhouse will be touched by that which God is
doing, for the knowledge of His glory shall cover the earth as the waters cover
the sea. Notice that the disciples were plucking the ears one at a time. I
believe there will be a "one-on-one" revival, as men win other men
Christ by their life and testimony.
ANGER
ON THE SABBATH
Turning
to Mark chapter 3, we find the story of a withered hand being healed on the sabbath day. It is truly amazing
to me how many things Jesus did on the Jewish sabbath day, which was a type of God's day of rest,
the 7th day of creation. Surely the Lord must be pointing out to us what lies
ahead in that 7th day, the 1,000 year day of the Lord.
First
of all, notice that they watched Him carefully to see if He would heal on the sabbath, "that they might
accuse Him." Believe me, here is going to be warfare during the
millennium. When Joshua took the children of Israel across Jordan into the promised land, they found that their place of
"rest" was indeed a place of great warfare. In fact, hey had more
warfare in Canaan than any of the children of Abraham had ever known before.
True, they had conflict with the Egyptians, but they had been slaves, and only
God's sovereign power was able to deliver them. They had not done any fighting,
and had no authority. But here in the land of "rest," the promised land, they came into hand to hand combat with the
enemy. And they developed into a mighty army, disciplined, powerful, and with
authority. And so it shall be with the Body of Christ when they enter their
"rest," their promised land!
In
verse 4 Christ challenges the Jews as to which was lawful to do on the sabbath . . . good or evil.
"To one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is
sin (James 4:17 New American Standard Bible)." Therefore, Jesus was
saying, "If I have the power to heal this man on the sabbath, and I don't do it, I would be sinning. So
should I sin on the sabbath
day just to please your laws and rules, or should I do good?” But they kept silent,
they had no answer for such divine logic.
He
then looked "around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of
heart.” Can you imagine the Lord Jesus being angry? Yes, He was angry with the
evil spirits in them that would allow this man's crippled hand to remain withered
throughout the entire 7th day, just to conform to their doctrines. You see,
they had no real compassion for the needs of others, only a desire to be right
in their dogmas and creeds, and to protect the religious machine they had
invented.
Hear
me good, dear friends, for I declare to you that if you think the Lord has been
upset and angry with the vicious religious systems in this “6th day," the
age of grace, then wait until the sabbath
begins. In that day of the Lord, His anger will break forth upon the hardness
of men's hearts, and they will have no answer. The Charismatics have played
“footsy” with denominational systems, and some have even felt that Charismatic
leaders have been trying to lead the whole movement right back under the
covering of Rome and the Pope. I'm not so sure of that, but I do know that many
of the national leaders of the Charismatic movement have curried the favor of
the denominations, and have encouraged people to "get the Holy Ghost
anointing, and stay in the system and under the ecclesiastical hierarchy."
I know that I have a reputation for being hard against denominationalism, but
if you think I'm hard, you should discover what God thinks about it. He hates
it with a passion. He is very angry with it. Now I didn't say that God hates
the people or leaders in the denominations. It is the system He hates. He is
angry with the spirit behind it that builds walls between God's people, so that
they cannot love and fellowship one another and be one church.
Our
city is the headquarters for the largest Pentecostal denomination, and there
are thousands of fine Spirit-filled people in the fifty or more Pentecostal
churches here. But there is a fundamentalist organization even larger, and they
openly attack all Spirit-filled “tongue talking" people as being demon
possessed. They openly state in the pulpits, in print, and on the radio that
speaking in tongues is a work of Satan, and therefore all Pentecostal people
are possessed of the devil. In their so called "Christian schools,"
they teach the children the same thing, in the guise of educational principle.
And children from Pentecostal families are told by their school teachers that
their Spirit-filled parents are demon-possessed if they speak in tongues. They
are building these fears and false prejudices right into the little children.
And these are "Born-Again" fundamentalists who do this. They do it
because of the religious system they are in. Do you think God hates such as
this? He hates it with a passion, and His anger will rise even more in the 7th
day. He will destroy such sectarian bigotry and cause a real love to flow among
all God's people. Glory to God! How can I, as a preacher of the Gospel, tell
people to receive the Holy Ghost, and then continue to support such a system as
this? God forbid. The Bible says plainly: "Come out of her My people!" So "she" (the harlot) is
something that many of God's people are in today, and He is calling them out.
Hear ye the word of the Lord!
THE
WITHERED HAND
The
main thrust of this story (Mark 3:1-5) is about a man with a withered hand.
Throughout the Bible, the hand is symbolic of ministry. With the illustration
of the 5 fingers, we speak of the “5-fold ministry," of the apostles,
prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Elijah's servant saw a cloud
"like a man's hand" bringing rain. So anointed ministry is one of the
means God uses in bringing revival.
In
this story, the man's hand was withered, weak, useless.
He had a hand all right, but it had never been able to perform its function in
the manner God designed it to do. The hand was in the church, as it should be,
but it had no power. There has been a ministry in the church throughout this
“6th day," but it has been withered and powerless compared to what God
intended for it to be. But on the sabbath,
Christ entered into the synagogue, and in the face of much opposition, He
healed the withered hand. Notice how He did It. He
simply said to the man: "Stretch out your hand.” And in the stretching out
of it, it was made whole. In the man's obedience, he was healed, immediately
and completely. So shall it be in the day of the Lord. That ministry that has
been powerless and crippled, in the church but unable to meet the needs therein, shall hear the Word of the Lord. There shall be
obedience, and there shall be healing. And there shall be a ministry in that
7th day with power and authority, able to meet the needs of others. It shall
come about because of the many-membered son company who stand forth and speak
the word of the Lord.
To
those who are preaching that the “5 fold ministries" of Ephesians 4:11 are
already done away with and no longer for the church, I would point you to a
withered hand that shall come alive on God's sabbath,
the day of the Lord. Yes, I know there will be those who have gone into the
fullness of sonship, conformed into the image of the
Son of God. They will have entered the ministry of the Melchisedec
priesthood. But it is through their ministry in that hour that the
"withered hand" of the previous age shall receive strength and begin ministering in power "to the House." Ezekiel
44:10-14 tells of that priesthood who did not minister in the power of God, but
who helped bring God's people into Babylonian bondage. God says that He will
restore them to a Ministry so that they can minister to the needs of the
people, and be keepers of the charge of the house. But God makes it plain that
there is a place in the Holy of Holies that they can never enter. That is
reserved for another ministry (verses 15-19 ... Sons of Zadok)
who was faithful to God's Word in the time of captivity. Yes, the withered hand
will be healed on the sabbath.
I do not expect to be in that ministry of the hand at that time. I want to be
in Him who does the healing, and sets that ministry free to minister in power.
UNTIL
ALL ENEMIES ARE DESTROYED
We
will reign on this earth with Christ for 1,000 years. But during that reign, we
will be in warfare against the enemy. But if there are still enemies in the
land, how can we be reigning? David reigned on the throne of Israel for 40
years. But during that time he was in warfare, in the process of conquering all
his enemies. By the time his reign was over, he had peace all around, and he
turned the kingdom over to Solomon in a peaceful atmosphere.
1
Corinthians 15:25 says that Christ "must reign until He has put all His
enemies under His feet." And we shall reign with Him. And we are that part
of His body that all enemies shall be put under. Revelation 20:6 tells us that
we shall reign for 1,000 years on this earth. I Corinthians 15:26 says that
"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." That simply means
that at the close of our thousand year reign (the sabbath day we've been talking about), that the final
enemy is destroyed.
Let
me go to Jesus to prove this. The last thing He did on a sabbath day was to go into the grave. And when that sabbath day was over, and they
came to the tomb, they found that He had conquered death. Hallelujah! He had
been changed from a natural body to a resurrection body, from a body that could
taste of death to a body that could never be killed. And this change came
during the sabbath, after
they had laid Him in the tomb, and before they arrived with their spices. At
the close of the day of the Lord you will find a people, a body, who could not suffer
corruption, coming forth in resurrection life. It is appointed unto man once to
die (Hebrews 9:27), because God said in the day man disobeyed and sinned, he
would surely die (Genesis 2:17). And because of sin, man never lived a full
1,000 year day. Adam lived for 930 years, and others lived even longer. But not
one made it through a whole day. Jesus could have, for He had no sin, but He
laid down His life so that we could fulfill His life and His work. Therefore we
see a many-membered son, the body of Christ, living and ministering for a 1,000
year day without sin, and disannulling the appointment with death. At the close
of the sabbath, death is
destroyed.
WHAT
WILL THE NEXT AGE BE LIKE?
On
the basis of the scriptures we have studied, let me say something about the
next age, the Kingdom Age, the Millennium, God's day of rest, the day of the
Lord. There will be a revelation of sonship such as
has not been seen for nearly 2,000 years. A many-membered company of overcomers
will pass through the Veil, sit with Christ on His
throne to rule and reign. Satan will be bound, and a work will begin to spoil
his house. All across the world, revival will spring up, as ministries are
restored and empowered to bless God's people and set creation free. The
knowledge of His glory shall cover the earth. Sick will be healed, dead raised,
demons cast out and into the pit, and Ministers everywhere will enter the
harvest fields.
Yes,
I know these things are already happening in a measure, for we now have the
foretaste of the miracle working powers of the age to come. But what we now
have is only a "taste" of that which belongs to the next age. The
Book will be opened, and truths of the Bible will be made known like a river of
life rushing in upon us. Blind eyes will be opened to truth, and the lame will
be made to walk in that which they see. And all this will be without effort,
without the strength of the flesh, for it is the day of rest, God's Sabbath
Day. There is a song, inspired by the Spirit, which we often sing,
that describes much of what on that day:
He
will heal your broken-hearted,
He will cause your blind to see;
He will make your lame to walk again,
He will set your captives free.
Every
prison will be opened,
Every yoke He'll take away;
And the Lord shall reign in Zion,
For it is God's Sabbath Day.
O
Lord, our hearts are thirsting,
For the promised latter rain;
When with mighty signs and wonders,
Thy Word proclaimed again.
Just
to see Thy power and glory,
To be filled with love divine;
Just to hear Thy Word from heaven;
"I have chosen thee, thou art mine.
Every
valley shall be exalted,
Every mountain be made low.
The crooked shall be straight again,
Ere the Spirit of the Lord shall flow.
Like
rivers in the high place,
Like floods on the burning sand;
Upon the poor and needy,
God's blessing shall descend.
CHORUS:
Rivers
shall flow in the wilderness,
Floods from heaven descend;
All
the earth shall be filled with His holiness,
Forever, world without end. (A. Bush)
